In focus: State of DevOps and DevOps in 2020

With our calendars flipping to 2020, we can say for sure that 2019 was a great year for DevOps and cloud native world. DevOps culture continued to prove its value which was most notably visible through Accelerate State of DevOps Report 2019 – this is a must-read! We have seen further rise of Kubernetes platform, Red Hat OpenShift 4 was released, IBM released its Cloud Paks, AWS Fargate was getting traction and several good books were published including Devops For Dummies, The Unicorn Project, and Monolith To Microservices. And we have started publishing 0800-DEVOPS newsletter!

The way 2019 ended, I have no doubts that 2020 will be equally interesting. Looking at current trends, here is my take on what we can expect from DevOps in enterprises in 2020.

Riding with the King

Kelsey Hightower is a Staff Developer Advocate at Google and co-chair of KubeCon, the largest Kubernetes conference. In reality, Kelsey needs absolutely no introduction in the cloud native world. I’m always amazed at how open and approachable this guy is! I managed to grab some of his time and here are some parts of what turned out the be one of the most interesting conversations I had on cloud native topic.

“Riding with the Queen/King” is our series featuring short interviews with super interesting people from the field of technology.

Worth of your time

+ January is always a great time for recognizing the outstanding efforts and achievements. DevOps.com is sharing their own “DevOps Dozen”, a list of honorees in 12 categories. From DevOps solutions and transformations to conferences, podcasts and books, this list gives a nice overview of 2019.

+ Is it possible to understand what AWS Lambda is during one lunch break? Tomasz Łakomy can help you with his Learn AWS Lambda from scratch series. Well invested 21 minutes!

0800-DEVOPS Stan Lee Quote

“That person who helps others simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do, is indeed without a doubt, a real superhero.”
