The 16th edition of CROZ’s Facade Gallery brings to life a vibrant giraffe, a masterpiece created by renowned Croatian artist Denis Krašković.

Situated at one of Zagreb’s busiest intersections, the artwork transforms CROZ’s facade into a striking public display that combines artistic expression with a deeper message.

This initiative, a testament to CROZ’s commitment to promoting art in public spaces, continues to redefine the urban landscape, engaging commuters and passersby in a moment of reflection and joy amidst their daily routines.

This project is part of CROZ’s ongoing collaboration with the Croatian Association of Visual Artists (HDLU), an institution dedicated to promoting contemporary art in Croatia. Through this partnership, CROZ continues to provide a platform for established and emerging artists to present their work to a wider audience.

About the Artist: Denis Krašković

Denis Krašković, a Zagreb-born sculptor and multidisciplinary artist, is celebrated for his bold, playful, and thought-provoking creations. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and a Master’s degree holder in sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, Krašković has an extensive portfolio of public art installations that resonate with diverse audiences.

From the much-loved Whale sculpture at Jarun Lake to the monumental Neanderthals in Krapina, Krašković’s works embody a unique blend of humor, optimism, and a deep concern for humanity’s relationship with nature. His art often features animals as protagonists, emphasizing their symbolic and ecological significance.

A Giraffe with a Message

The choice of a giraffe for this edition of the Facade Gallery was far from random. Krašković explains that the giraffe’s elongated form perfectly complements the verticality of the CROZ building facade. But beyond aesthetics, the giraffe symbolizes a broader message: the urgent need to protect biodiversity and preserve life on Earth.

“With over 150,000 animal species endangered, and the plant world similarly at risk, it’s vital to raise awareness about the fragility of life,” Krašković shares. “Art has the power to inspire and remind us of our shared responsibility.”

This colorful giraffe does exactly that – it captivates viewers with its vibrancy while subtly encouraging them to consider their role in fostering harmony between humanity and the natural world.

The Facade Gallery Legacy

Since its inception, the Facade Gallery has featured some of Croatia’s most acclaimed contemporary artists, including Željko Kipke and Zlatko Kopljar. Each edition introduces a new perspective, pushing the boundaries of what public art can achieve.

For Krašković, this project marks a return to collaboration with CROZ, a partnership he fondly recalls. His work builds on the legacy of previous installations, contributing to a “win-win-win” scenario – enriching the artist’s portfolio, enhancing CROZ’s cultural footprint, and offering the community a brighter, more engaging environment.

For Krašković, art is more than aesthetics – it’s a vehicle for change, a way to uplift and inspire. “Art has many roles. It preserves memories, reflects the spirit of its time, and has the potential to shift perspectives,” he explains.
