Since 2018, CROZ has collaborated with the Croatian Association of Fine Artists (HDLU) to integrate socially responsible practices into our business by supporting local artists. Twice a year, we transform the facade of our building into a public art gallery, showcasing stunning visual pieces instead of advertisements
The Story
Back in 2018, CROZ launched its collaboration with HDLU, aiming to replace commercial visuals with meaningful art and provide local artists with a platform to showcase their talent. Located at one of Zagreb’s busiest intersections, Petlja (the Loop), where Slavonska Avenue meets Marin Držić Avenue, our building offers a unique opportunity to bring art to the public. Every day, countless commuters pass through this area, turning our facade into a cultural touchpoint for the city.
Since the start of this initiative, 15 works of art have been displayed on our facade, each offering a fresh perspective and enriching our surroundings.
Why does our facade gallery matter?
This initiative is more than just making our facade look cool. It fosters a connection between art and the public, making art accessible to everyone, not just those who seek it in galleries or museums. For artists, it is an incredible opportunity to have their work recognized, appreciated, and displayed in an obvious urban setting.
The initiative also provides financial support and motivation for further creative endeavors. The recognition that comes from being selected encourages participating artists to push boundaries, explore new themes, and continue their creative journeys.
The Latest Facade Gallery Artwork: “The Invisible Cities of Marco Polo”
Currently, our facade gallery showcases Željko Kipke’s “The Invisible Cities of Marco Polo,” a 12 x 4.8-meter work inspired by Italo Calvino’s literary masterpiece.
According to Kipke, the artwork represents “one of the possible interpretations of Marco Polo’s invisible cities, fictional urban spaces named after women from mythology and literature.”
About the Artist: Željko Kipke
Born in Čakovec in 1953, Željko Kipke is a multifaceted artist whose works span painting, filmmaking, writing, and theoretical discourse. Known for his enigmatic, thought-provoking pieces, Kipke describes himself as a painter of the “new eon,” blending art with symbolism and mysticism.
With a career that bridges postmodern surrealism, avant-garde experimentation, and philosophical inquiry, Kipke’s art challenges viewers to look beyond the visible and question the deeper meanings of the world around them. His works have been displayed internationally, including at the Venice Biennale and other prestigious exhibitions, cementing his reputation as one of Croatia’s most influential contemporary artists.
