At CROZ, we work with organizations that handle sensitive data every day – from financial institutions to healthcare and government systems. And one thing is clear: anonymization is no longer optional. It’s essential for compliance, analytics, and protecting user trust.
That’s exactly why we decided to host a webinar on data anonymization, led by our expert Stjepan Luksic. The goal? To demystify the topic, explore real-world challenges, and offer practical solutions you can apply in your own projects.

Main topics that we discussed
Stjepan walked us through the core of data anonymization:
- Key differences between anonymization, pseudonymization, and masking
- Why anonymization is harder than it looks
- Real-world anonymization risks and how to handle them
- Tools and techniques we use in CROZ projects
- How to balance data usability and compliance
What we’ve learned from you
One key takeaway from the session was how important context is in anonymization efforts. The survey during the webinar confirmed what we often see in the field: most organizations are driven by the need to stay compliant and protect user privacy. Pseudonymization and data masking stood out as the preferred techniques—offering a strong balance between security and usability.
Participants also highlighted unstructured data and legacy systems as the biggest anonymization challenges, especially when it comes to identifying and handling personal data buried deep in documentation.
CROZanonyx: Practical Data Anonymization Solution
Throughout the webinar, we also highlighted CROZanonyx, our in-house anonymization solution, helps clients move from theory to action. Built for structured and unstructured data, it detects PII automatically, handles large datasets, and integrates easily into modern data pipelines.
Supported techniques include:
- AI anonymization for unstructured text (e.g. emails, support logs)
- Data masking for realistic test data
- Data swapping for safe analytics
- Pseudonymization when limited re-identification is required
