I recently participated in two back-to-back IBM Z events: The IBM Z DevOps Workshop in Frankfurt (June 17-18) and the AI on Z Bootcamp in Rome (June 18-20), where I could deepen my expertise in enterprise DevOps and AI for IBM Z, connected with fellow professionals, and I am ready to help our clients take action on these innovations.
Diving into DevOps: Frankfurt, June 17-18
Last month I’ve joined roughly 50 clients, IBMers, partners, and mainframe enthusiasts in Frankfurt for an immersive two-day IBM Z DevOps Workshop. From the moment attendees gathered, the agenda blended expert demos with hands-on labs – exactly the mix CROZ values for driving real-world results.

Although I’ve joked that Deutsche Bahn even managed to run on time for once, the onward flight to Rome was unfortunately delayed – an early reminder that even the best-laid plans sometimes need contingency.
AI on Z: Rome, June 18–20
Barely landing in Rome, I’ve joined a more intimate group of about 20 participants – mostly IBMers with a handful of partners – for the AI on Z Bootcamp at IBM’s Rome office.

Key Labs & Insights
Beyond the labs, we got a sneak peek at the Spyre Accelerator, the next generation of development tooling for Z, plus new multi-agent capabilities in watsonx Assistant for IBM Z and looks at AI-infused z/OS. These advances promise to streamline mainframe operations and open fresh possibilities for automation and insight.

Looking Ahead
My time in Frankfurt and Rome was a whirlwind of knowledge, code, and camaraderie – reminding that the mainframe ecosystem is thriving, evolving, and brimming with opportunity. I am energized to bring these learnings back, craft innovative solutions, and continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible on IBM Z.
