Three days ago IBM announced a new version of mainframe z Systems platform – z14. z System computers are a symbol of reliability, security and scalability for many years now, but novelties that z14 brings are a quantum leap in the world of enterprise servers.
IBM mainframe team has collected information and analysed experiences and needs from more than 150 mainframe users over the world in order to find out how to deliver a solution which can address all demands of today’s IT market. IBM underlines that new functionalities cover all law regulations regarding data protection, it encrypts data 18x faster than compared x86 platforms and that includes all the stages of data manipulation and management. z14 is the only solution on the market which enables encryption on the firmware, hardware, operating system and middleware level. Besides that, it has extremely high processor capacity available for encryption. In numbers, it means that the system can run more than 12 billion encrypted transactions per day.
z14 also brings a lot of novelties regarding analytics and cloud. IBM emphasizes that the system offers a broad scale of possibilities for real time analytics and regarding the cloud they point out the possibility of consolidation of a large number of Linux servers.
With the new z Systems series of computers IBM has stepped far ahead of the competitors. Existing users now have many reasons to sTick with mainframe, and we believe that many other will embrace all the benefits that this technology brings.
