The work presented in this edition explores how Gen Z navigates identity, relationships, and the shifting norms of modern life.

Artist: Agata Lučić

Agata Lučić, a Croatian artist known for her thought-provoking approach to contemporary themes, created the piece “Oh Romeo, Romeo, why are you Romeo?”. Drawing from Shakespeare’s iconic Romeo and Juliet, the work reimagines the timeless question of love and identity, raising it in the context of today’s rapidly changing world.

Her artwork captures the tension between tradition and modernity, examining how the digital age, social media, and new forms of communication shape relationships and personal identity. The piece offers a fresh, contemporary perspective on classic ideas of love, questioning how the younger generation interprets and experiences these concepts today.

Why Does It Matter?

In a time when identity and relationships are constantly evolving under the influence of technology, “Oh Romeo, Romeo, why are you Romeo?” serves as a poignant reminder of the complexities young people face in understanding love and self in a digital world. By choosing this theme, CROZ and HDLU are not only showcasing art, but also reflecting on the socio-cultural dynamics of Gen Z. This exhibition invites the public to reflect on how young people today are navigating a world of constant change, where traditional concepts such as love and identity are being redefined.

The Facade Gallery provides a platform for these reflections, transforming a commercial space into a space for dialogue, connection, and social responsibility through art.
