CROZ and the Croatian Association of Fine Artists (HDLU) are pleased to announce the open call for the 17th edition of the Facade Gallery, an initiative that has transformed the facade of CROZ’s headquarters into a platform for contemporary Croatian visual art since 2018.
To date, 16 large-scale artworks have adorned the building’s facade, located on Lastovska Street in Zagreb, at the intersection of Avenija Marina Držića and Slavonska Avenue. The 12 x 4.8-meter poster is prominently visible from the overpass, engaging thousands of passersby daily.
About The Project
Since 2018, the Facade Gallery has presented 16 large-scale works by Croatian artists, each offering a unique take on contemporary visual expression in public space. From abstract reflections to narrative-driven pieces, these artworks have become part of Zagreb’s everyday landscape.

Theme of the 17th Edition: JOY
This year’s theme is Joy. Artists are invited to explore and express what joy means to them, acknowledging that this emotion manifests differently for everyone. The goal is not necessarily to create a vividly colorful piece but to authentically share one’s personal joy, the joy of creation, or a vision of joy that resonates with a broad audience.
Visual art has long captured the essence of joy, from early religious and mythological scenes to impressionists like Monet, and later artists such as Matisse, Kandinsky, Klee, David Hockney, and Yayoi Kusama. In today’s fast-paced and often overwhelming environment, a moment of visual joy can have a profound emotional impact on viewers.
The selected artwork will be scanned, enlarged, and printed as a 12 x 4.8 m poster, which will be displayed on the facade of CROZ headquarters from June 2025 to December 2025.
