Call for the 19th Facade Gallery

14. 05. 2026
Overview

HDLU and CROZ continue their collaboration that began in 2018, uniting art, public space, and technology through the Facade Gallery project. Over the years, fourteen artworks have transformed the facade of the CROZ headquarters in Zagreb into a living urban gallery visible to the wider community every day.

With the 19th edition of the Facade Gallery, artists are invited to respond to the theme Parallel Realities, chosen by our last Facade Gallery winner Suzana Horvatić.

At CROZ, we believe art belongs beyond traditional gallery spaces. By integrating artistic expression into the workplace and the city itself, we aim to encourage dialogue, reflection, and new perspectives within both our community and the public space surrounding it.

The selected artwork will be enlarged, scanned, and printed as a 12 × 4.80 m banner installed on the facade of the CROZ headquarters in Lastovska Street, Zagreb. The installation will be visible from the junction of Avenija Marina Držića and Slavonska Avenue and displayed from June to December 2026.

Theme: Parallel Realities

Parallel realities suggest that reality is not singular or fixed, but made up of multiple dimensions existing simultaneously. These dimensions may include alternative versions of events, missed opportunities, imagined outcomes, internal emotional landscapes, memories, and shifting perceptions of the world around us.

This year’s theme invites artists to move beyond purely dreamlike or surreal imagery and instead explore the fragile space where everyday choices shape entirely different realities. What happens when one decision changes the entire direction of a life? How do internal worlds coexist with external ones? Where do perception and reality begin to blur?

Artists may draw inspiration from figures such as Salvador Dalí and his double imagery, René Magritte’s questioning of representation and perception, or Giorgio de Chirico’s metaphysical spaces filled with invisible narratives and suspended moments.

The call encourages personal interpretations of how different realities emerge, overlap, and collide — whether as external worlds, internal states, or combinations of both.

Artist Fee

The fee will be paid by CROZ based on an artistic copyright agreement signed upon selection.

Technical Specifications

Artists are invited to submit sketches (an unlimited number per artist) in the proportions of the final poster (12 m height × 4.80 m width), which on A4 format corresponds to 29.7 cm height × 11.8 cm width.

Based on the submitted sketches, the artist and artwork will be selected. If needed, the chosen work will be further developed in collaboration with the artist.

The selected artist will then create the final artwork on paper in A3 format (42 cm × 16.8 cm). The final piece will be scanned, enlarged, and printed as a 12 × 4.80 m banner and mounted on the facade of the CROZ building, while the original artwork will be displayed in the CROZ office premises.

All costs of scanning, printing, and installation are covered by CROZ.
