Volunteering for Environmental Protection

26. 07. 2024
Overview

CROZ DACH cooperated with BUND Naturschutz, a leading environmental organization in Bavaria, where our team participated in a pond restoration project. This hands-on experience not only contributed to environmental protection, but also fostered a deeper understanding of nature and the importance of biodiversity.

Commitment to the environment and sustainability

On October 3, 2023, our CROZ DACH team embarked on its first, but not last, corporate volunteering adventure. After many intensive conversations about sustainability they felt inspired to become active in the environmental field. The aim was to make an active contribution to climate protection and – knowing about the importance of an intact natural environment – to help protect the such in the area around Munich.

Cooperation with the BUND Naturschutz

CROZ has teamed up with BUND Naturschutz for this project. BUND Naturschutz in Bavaria is a pioneer of environmental protection in the state. As the oldest and largest nature conservation association in Bavaria, it is active in all districts. The focus of its dedicated work is the protection of the diverse natural landscapes that are at home in Bavaria. For over a century, the association has been committed to preserving the beauty and diversity of its homeland. Its task is to ensure the harmonious coexistence of humans, animals and plants. It was one of the first to speak out on issues such as waste management and nuclear energy, to campaign for organic farming and to establish Bavarian national parks.

A day full of new experiences

Our team left the city office early in the morning to drive deep into the Perlacher Forst near Munich, where the contact person and supervisor for the day was already waiting for them. Together with three other volunteers, they spent a day in the forest helping to restore two small ponds. Equipped with gloves, scissors, waterproof pants and wellington boots – not forgetting pretzels and drinks – they trimmed the hedges around the ponds. These had been artificially created by school project groups a few years earlier. Our DACH Team removed weeds and cleared the ponds of mud and dirt. The physical exertion and the work in nature not only enabled them to make a visible contribution, but also to learn a lot about the forest and the importance of such wetland biotopes and their diverse little inhabitants.

Inspired by Volunteering

The day was an enriching experience for everyone involved! Our team learned how important such small ecosystems are for the balance of nature and how much work goes into their conservation. Despite the sometimes strenuous work, it was a refreshing change from everyday office life! As you know, that is no news for CROZ team, therefore they enthusiastically made another plan for a similar event in 2024, which will take place this fall. CROZ is proud to continue this tradition and underline its commitment to sustainability and climate protection through active action!
